When is the best time of year to mend my fence?

The location in which you live can depend on when to mend the panels, the best results would be when the ground is dry, other ground conditions such as frozen ground or spring mud season are not so good times of the year, therefore if you live in a gulley where water is likely to run towards your property it’s probably best that you leave these emendations until the summer when the ground has had time to dry out.

Summer is also a good option because the heat often creates the timber to expand, if you were to erect the panels at their biggest, you can’t go wrong as you’d of made room. As the weather cools down the panels will then slightly decrease in size to fit nicely in the posts.

Another good pointer for many reasons, I may be stating the obvious here, however, mending fencing in the rain will not be fun. As well as getting soaked yourself your timber will also be soaking and when you try and hammer them into the ground they will become slightly weaker. Ideally you do not want to be mending in poor weather conditions to reassure yourself of the guarantee depending on the treatment you choose.
