Introducing Probase

Based in Yorkshire, but with offices worldwide, Quick Base Solutions (QBS) manufactures Probase and several other foundation and base systems for garden buildings. These include sheds, greenhouses, log cabins and even playhouses. The majority of base and flooring systems provided by QBS are interlocking, making self-assembly simple and quick.

Probase is made of thick plastic, ensuring its strength and versatility. It can, for instance, be arranged onto a level sub-base of soil, gravel, or short grass. The Geo-textile permeable membrane is laid first and is cut to the size of your garden shed or garden room etc. You can save yourself the trouble of having to cut it, by simply folding the membrane into place.

The Probase kit interlinking plastic grid system is then placed on top of the membrane, grid by grid, with each grid panel clicking into place to form one large base.

The Plastic Probase for sheds and other garden buildings

Every Probase plastic shed base comes with a reassuring two year guarantee. Bases such as the 6'x4.5' log cabin base kit are just an example of the UK brand’s most popular kits and are used by DIYers and professional garden-building installers alike. As you would imagine, Probase sizes vary with the larger plastic shed bases coming in at around 20’x8’ and 15’x10’.

Each Probase plastic shed base square measures 500x500x40mm, regardless of the size of the finished interlocked base and whether it is for a greenhouse, garden room or children’s garden playhouse.

It is also worth noting that once the Plastic Pro base for sheds is laid, the gaps in the grids are filled with pea gravel. This is to lend weight to the base and, at the same time, provide additional sturdiness and structure in the face of storms or flooding. Probase advises that every large Probase kit laid should contain an average of around 10kg of the 10mm pea gravel (with none required for the smaller buildings).

Features of a Probase kit

One of the biggest advantages of a Probase kit is that you do not have to lay down slabs or concrete for your garden building to sit on. That saves a lot of time and labour costs. Then there is the fact the Probase plastic grids can easily be assembled by your average keen, DIYer.

The Probase plastic shed base is durable and strong, despite it being lightweight and easy to lift. Produced from 100 per cent recycled plastic there is even an environmentally friendly side to this garden shed base solution.

Because it is raised above ground, there is less likelihood of water damage, especially since the plastic pro base for sheds allows water to drain off and, at the same time provides ventilation to prevent dampness from forming.

Keep your garden building's walls clean and safeguarded against rot with Probase French drains, designed to integrate seamlessly into Probase grids along two sides, preventing rainwater splashback and soil buildup on the wood. Additionally, purchasing these Probase French drains from us includes a free pack of Probase anchor blocks, which enhance stability by securely anchoring your structure to its base.

Can Probase kits be installed under existing garden buildings?

Yes, although usually used with new installations, they can also be installed as a replacement for existing foundations. However, installing a Probase base under an existing shed may require lifting or temporarily dismantling the shed to properly place and secure the base. It is essential to follow Probase's instructions or consult with a professional to ensure the shed is safely lifted and that the base is correctly installed to support the structure's weight and size.
