There are several ways to install posts or uprights, and the method chosen is dictated by the type of surface that you are building onto.
The simplest method is to use a Fencefast Easy-Fit post support.
These supports are available in a number of different sizes and designs to cater for different post sizes and different surfaces.
The Fencebase Easy-Fit can be used on any surface which can accept bolts. These bases are the perfect answer if posts or uprights need to be added to a completed deck surface or onto concrete, simply drill through the decking surface and attach with bolts.
When installing directly into the ground the post should be of a length that will ensure 610mm (2’) can be sunk into the ground.
Approximately 50mm (2’’) of the post should sit above the top fence panel.
Dig a hole, insert the post and then backfill or concrete-in using a pre-mixed concrete post mix.
Use a spirit level to ensure that the post is upright.
Use a Fencefast Easy-fit Spike for a simple solution that is easy to install.
If fixing a high level panel so 5’ or 6’ then use the Fencefast Easy-Fit Spike 750mm, if fixing a low level panel 4’ or 3’ then use the Fencefast Easy-fit Spike 650mm.
1. Make a pilot hole using a metal rod or bar. This will help the spike to position itself correctly and also alert you of any underground obstructions.
2. Insert the spike into the pilot hole and using the specially designed Driving Tool, hammer the spike into the ground with firm blows from a sledge hammer.
Frequently check the spike with a level to ensure that the box is vertical and make any corrections with the driving tool.
3. Finally locate the box to its correct height and position. When the box has reached its desired position carefully insert the fence post and tighten up the retaining bolts
