What is a wall trellis?

A wall trellis is a framework that you can fix onto a wall or fence in your garden. It is not just for your typical garden walls; think bigger. You can brighten up a retaining wall with one, turning a functional space into something a bit special. Or, if you have a boundary wall that looks a little bland, add a garden trellis to it and watch it transform.

Decorative walls and living garden walls are both covered as well. Even rustic dry-stone walls or modern gabion walls can benefit from an added garden trellis. Let us not forget brick walls, as a trellis adds a whole new dimension. If you have a garden wall or a garden fence that needs some extra quality, a wall trellis is your go-to option. Give your outdoor space a mini makeover, with a wall trellis.

Our range

Our wall trellis range is all manufactured in the UK by Forest Garden from FSC or PEFC-certified timber. We offer our entire diversity of sizes including 6'x1', 6'x2', 6'x3', 6'x4', and 6'x6', so there is a size for every type of wall that needs a garden trellis.

Choose dip treated trellises with 10-year guarantees, which will require annual retreatment with timber preservative. Or if you prefer you can buy pressure treated garden trellises, which cost a little more, but have a 15-year guarantee and do not require annual retreatment.

Reasons to establish a wooden wall trellis

So, do you have a wooden wall trellis, or you are thinking about buying one? Garden trellis panels are not just decorative; they pack a bunch of practical benefits too. Here is why wall trellises are a must-have for a blank wall:

  1. Added texture - it adds a touch of texture and depth to your garden. It is all about those layers
  2. Air quality booster - plants on your trellis do not just look good; they help clean the air around you. It is like having a natural air purifier in your backyard
  3. Creative outlet - train plants into patterns or let them roam free. A trellis is like your canvas to get creative with greenery
  4. Garden showstopper - a wall trellis with blooming flowers or lush greenery can be the main attraction in your garden. It is an ultimate focal point with a WOW factor!
  5. Living wall magic – do you have a blank wall? Pop a wooden trellis on it and let some plants climb. This turns your wall into a living, breathing piece of art
  6. Low maintenance - once it is installed, a wooden wall trellis is pretty low maintenance to look after. A bit of enjoyable pruning, and everything is in order
  7. Privacy plus - a wall is private, but a wall trellis adds layered privacy. Remove an imposing and stark wall, improve sound absorption, and extend the area of privacy as climbing plants spread around the garden screen edges
  8. Seasonal flexibility - change up the plants with the seasons for a trellis that is always on-trend. Your garden could have its own fashion cycle
  9. Vertical gardening - short on space, worry not. A trellis lets you garden upwards, not just outwards, often working with trellis planters
  10. Wildlife haven - birds and bees love a good wooden trellis panel. A garden wall trellis is like setting up a little wildlife resort right in your garden

Decorative wall trellis options

Here are some decorative wall trellis options that will enhance your outdoor space:

  • Diamond lattice trellis - for this one, picture crisscross patterns arranged in a lattice trellis diamond shape
  • Fan wall trellis - Your climbing plants can follow a fun pattern created by the fan wall trellis as it fans out
  • Square trellis – the square garden trellis is perfect for minimalist gardens because of its tidy, well-organised appearance

Colour options

All the garden wall trellises we sell are made from natural wood. There are options to paint or treat them with coloured finishes though to match your décor. Choose from black wall trellis, white wall trellis, grey wall trellis, and other colour options which match your needs.
